With a lifetime of experience, a wealth of knowledge and tremendous success on the water, Steve Castellini brings a unique perspective to yacht sales. Decades spent owning, operating, fishing, building, maintaining and managing boats have given him a practical understanding of vessels that go far beyond specifications alone.
Steve’s passion for boating and offshore fishing began at an early age and was shaped by a lifetime spent on the water with his family. Some of his best childhood memories were made fishing out of Cape May, New Jersey, and Stuart, Florida. At just 10 years old, he caught his first white marlin aboard his parents’ 45-foot Hatteras. Over the years, his family owned and operated a wide range of boats, including a 47-foot Pacemaker, 45-foot Hatteras, 62-foot Norseman, 55-foot Hatteras, 36-foot Jersey Devil, 24-foot Grady-White and 38-foot Evans. As his family moved from one boat to the next, Steve became deeply involved in the purchasing process, gaining firsthand experience evaluating different designs, layouts, systems and performance characteristics. When the family decided to build the 36-foot Jersey Devil, Steve oversaw the build, giving him an even greater understanding of how a boat comes together from concept through completion.
In 1992, Steve obtained his U.S. Coast Guard Captain’s license. In 1995, he purchased a 47-foot Buddy Davis and named her Uncle T, continuing a family tradition and honoring the role that boating and fishing had always played in his family’s life. The Uncle T became much more than a boat to Steve; it represented years of family memories, offshore experience and the foundation of the career he would go on to build on the water. Steve captained the Uncle T through 2012, building a successful charter business and fishing extensively throughout the Mid-Atlantic, Florida, North Carolina, the Bahamas, the Dominican Republic, Turks and Caicos, Isla Mujeres, Mexico, and other renowned offshore destinations. In addition to charter and tournament fishing, Steve also used the Uncle T for commercial tuna fishing, further broadening his experience on the water. Over the course of his fishing career, Steve has accumulated well over 4,000 billfish releases, along with extensive experience targeting tuna and a wide variety of offshore species.
Tournament fishing has been a significant part of Steve’s career for decades. With more than 40 tournament wins and numerous first-through-third-place finishes, his success has stretched from the Eastern Seaboard to Mexico. In 1992, Steve won the inaugural MidAtlantic $500,000 with an 82-pound white marlin caught by his father, James Castellini. He returned to winning the MidAtlantic again in 2006 with an 88-pound white marlin and earned another first-place MidAtlantic finish in 2022 with a 75-pound white marlin. In 2024, Steve captained his team to a second-place finish in the MidAtlantic’s heaviest white marlin category with a 77-pound white marlin. His tournament résumé also includes additional wins and placements throughout the Mid-Atlantic and in Mexico.
In 2010, Steve brought his lifetime of boating and fishing experience into yacht sales. In 2012, he began working as a private captain for his clients, allowing him to remain actively involved in operating, managing and delivering vessels while continuing to build his yacht brokerage career. Over the years, Steve has delivered a wide variety of boats for private owners, further expanding his firsthand knowledge of different vessels, systems and performance characteristics. His combined experience as a boat owner, licensed captain, tournament fisherman, private captain and yacht broker gives Steve a perspective that is difficult to duplicate.
Steve has also been involved in the building and rebuilding of several boats throughout his career. His knowledge is valued within the boatbuilding industry, where custom boat builders have sought his opinion on everything from cockpit design, overall layout and engine selection to onboard amenities and owner preferences. Having owned and captained many different boats, Steve understands what owners and crews actually need from a vessel. His experience allows him to look beyond appearance and specifications and recognize the details that affect performance, reliability, functionality, comfort and the overall ownership experience.
While Steve has particular expertise in 40-foot sportfishing boats and larger, his brokerage experience extends from center consoles through luxury yachts. He takes the time to understand each client’s experience, needs and plans for their boat, allowing him to help buyers identify the vessel that truly fits the way they intend to use it.
Whether buying or selling, Steve’s clients benefit from decades of relationships throughout the boating and sportfishing communities, along with a broad network of owners, captains, builders and industry professionals. His firsthand knowledge allows him to help buyers evaluate the right boat for their needs while giving sellers the experience and connections necessary to properly represent their vessel. Steve places tremendous value on the relationships he develops with his clients and remains a trusted resource long after a transaction is complete.
For Steve, yacht sales is a natural extension of a lifetime spent on the water and decades of firsthand experience owning, running and understanding boats.
